Can you believe how time flies? They say the older you get, the quicker time seems to fly by. I must say, time seems to go by faster and faster with each passing day, week and month. Here we are, finding ourselves into 2019 and probably wondering how we are going to accomplish the intentions we set as the clock struck midnight and a new year began.

New Years Resolutions are interesting… we set goals, but we often don’t set a concrete plan on how to achieve those goals. We say ‘we want to have a better relationship with our partner,’ but do we actually set up real, tangible ways to achieve that goal? Did you spend any time researching ways to ‘have more spark’ or ‘have better communication’? Are you and your partner on the same page with your desire to improve your relationship?

At this time in the year, we are wondering which goals are worth continuing the pursual of and which ones to leave behind. I want to say that your relationship with your long-term partner is always going to be worth every extra ounce of effort you put into it. Trust me, Halko and I have done our fair share of work tending our relationship and erotic garden and each year we are so glad we put in the extra effort to grow deeper with the one we are choosing to do life with.

In our upcoming retreat, Tending Eros – Part 1, you and your partner will learn how to enhance your intimacy and desire with mindfulness, which can translate into all areas of your life. You will learn how mindfulness can revitalize your erotic bond while cultivating a fresh mindset to overcome the dulling effects of familiarity in long-term relationships.

If you want to work on your erotic life this year, join me on January 20-23rd in Portland, Oregon! If you’ve never been to Portland, you’re in for a treat. Let’s take a look at some of the excellent reasons to visit Portland.

1. The Craft Breweries.

Portland has more breweries than any other city in the United States! There are over 70 breweries right in Portland so, if you’re a beer or cider lover, you’ll want to spend a few extra days in Portland searching out the best breweries to match your palette!

2. Bicycle Friendly Design.

Portland is designed to be the most bicycle-friendly city you can find. With over 25 bicycle rental shops and over 300 miles of designated bike lanes around the city, you can take in the beauty of Portland by pedal power. There are many guided bicycle tours around the city so you can become familiar with this beautiful city by being active and safe.

3. Food Trucks.

Most cities have a few food-related items to brag about but the Portland food scene, namely the Food Truck scene, is worth checking out. A quick search online into ‘the best food trucks in Portland’ will divide the food trucks by style of food, location, and popularity. One truck that makes every list is ‘Viking Soul Food.’ Viking Soul Food features lefse and other handmade Scandinavian goodies and is worth checking out.

4. VooDoo Doughnuts.

VooDoo Doughnuts is one of the most popular and well-known places in Portland. VooDoo Doughnuts has their humble beginning in Portland and now have seven locations across the United States. This doughnut shop always has a lineup, but it’s worth it to stop by and grab a dozen of their famous doughnuts (maybe on your way to the retreat!)

5. Enjoy Nature.

Portland, known as the Rose City, is full of lush flora and a lot of outdoor adventure. Visit the Portland Japanese Garden, which is said to be one of the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan. There’s also the International Rose Test Garden, which initially served as a safe haven for European hybrid roses. Fast forward to present day and the Portland Rose Garden is now one of the Rose City’s most prominent landmarks. August is one of the best times to visit these beautiful gardens as the flowers are still in bloom.

At our Passion & Presence® foundation retreat, Erotic Presence, we will hold space for you to re-access your embodied wholeness as you gently explore your sexual initiation and work together to heal erotic wounds. As you learn to see, touch and share with renewed curiosity and Presence, you will discover where you have been stuck or deadened.

Join us in August in a city that will have you wishing you could stay a little longer and keep exploring all the adventure that awaits.
